penyakit influenza (flu). Yang berbahaya bukan
hanya flu babi, kita juga harus waspada
terhadap flu pada umumnya. Banyak hal yang
tanpa kita sadari bisa menyebabkan kita terkena
flu. Berikut ini yang perlu dicermati:

1. Terlalu cemas.
Ketakutan kita dari penyakit justru akan membuat kita sakit. Contohnya, kita khawatir akan virus flu babi. Virus H1N1 belum terbukti
lebih mengancam daripada flu musiman biasa.

Banyak orang tidak mencuci tangan dengan benar. Cuci tangan sebanyak sepuluh kali, salah satu cara yang dianjurkan untuk mencegah datangnya virus flu. Namun, masih banyak orang yang
tidak segera mencuci tangan setelah batuk dan bersin. Ditemukan juga banyak yang mencuci tangan kurang dari 15 detik, meskipun para ahli
merekomendasikan mencuci tangan selama 20
detik atau lebih. Cucilah seluruh permukaan
tangan antara jari dan pastikan benar-benar kering setelah tiu. Mematikan keran, lampu
kamar mandi, dan membuka pintu gunakan tisu untuk menjaga tangan tetap bersih.

8. Penggunaan masker wajah yang salah.
Masker wajah tidak lagi dianjurkan untuk digunakan di rumah dan lingkungan kerja. Tapi masih banyak
yang menggunakannya terutama jika dalam kondisi flu yang parah atau karena sehari-hari berurusan dengan orang sakit. Masker adalah
sarang virus. Pastikan Anda menggunakan dan
membuangnya dengan benar. Jangan
menyentuh bagian depan yang paling mungkin
terkontaminasi dengan virus. Setelah itu, cucilah
tangan hingga bersih.

9. Minum obat flu sebelum waktunya.
Obat antivirus harus diberikan dengan resep yang tepat. Karena, dosis yang tidak tepat bisa membuat virus menjadi resisten terhadap obat ini.

10. Meremehkan setiap hal. Biasanya, pasien berisiko tinggi terkena flu berusia setidaknya 65

Indonesian Chicken Satay

Ingredients:
7 Shallots
10 candle nuts, roasted
8 cloves of garlic
Bamboo skewers (as needed)
3 kg chicken meat (cut into 2 cm cubes)
60 ml oil
Salt (as needed)
2 cups (500ml) Indonesian sweet soy sauce
2 red chili peppers
16 bird’s eye chilies (optional)
1kg roasted peanuts (ground to a paste)
60ml lime juice
How to make:
Grind shallot, garlic, candle nut, red chili
pepper, and bird’s eye chilies to a fine
paste.
Heat oil in a saucepan then sauté the
paste until lightly brown.
Add ground peanuts, 1 cup sweet soy
sauce, salt and water.
Mix well and slowly bring to a boil.
Remove saucepan from heat and add lime
juice.
Cool to room temperature.
Impale chicken pieces on bamboo skewers
until 3/4 full.
Marinate chicken satay for at least 2 hours
with a quarter of the peanut sauce and 1
cup of sweet soy sauce.
Sprinkle salt on satay before grilling.
Grill satay for 10-15 minutes, turning
occasionally
Serve with the peanut sauce and rice-cake
(lontong)
Garnish with cucumber & sliced shallots

Thai military disband Senate after seizing power in coup

THAILAND’S military junta says it has
disbanded the Senate and placed all
lawmaking authority in the army chief’s
hands, dramatically tightening its grip after
a coup that has sparked Bangkok protests
and drawn international condemnation.
The regime also confirmed on Saturday it had
detained former premier Yingluck Shinawatra
and scores of other ousted government
leaders and would hold them for up to a
week as it corralled potential opponents to its
takeover.
“The Senate is dismissed. Responsibility for
any laws needing the approval of the
parliament or Senate will instead be assumed
by the leader of the (junta),” said an army
bulletin on national television.
Analysts called Saturday’s developments an
ominous sign the junta led by the army chief,
General Prayut Chan-O-Cha, could be digging
in for a long-term, pervasive takeover, as it
had earlier said the Senate would be
retained.

second straight day, with hundreds of
demonstrators defying a ban on political
gatherings to denounce the coup, echoing

Prayut seized control on Thursday after anti-
government forces had waged a several-
month campaign, marked by deadly Bangkok
street protests, to oust Thailand’s civilian
leaders.
Civil liberties have been curbed, media
restrictions imposed, most of the constitution
abrogated, and rival protesters from both
sides of the political divide cleared from the
capital.
Political analysts view the coup as part of a
long-running effort by a Bangkok-based
power elite — aligned with the monarchy and
military — to eliminate the political
dominance of Yingluck’s elder brother
Thaksin Shinawatra.
Thaksin, a billionaire telecoms tycoon, shook
up Thai politics by winning devotion among
millions of rural poor with populist measures,
catapulting him to prime minister in 2001
polls.
He was deposed in 2006 in a military coup,
fleeing abroad two years later to avoid a
corruption conviction, but his family and
allies have continued his success at the ballot
box.
The military said on Saturday that Prayut had
sent a letter regarding his takeover to the
country’s revered king, Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The monarch, 86, commands great respect
among his subjects, and his blessing is
traditionally sought to legitimise Thailand’s
recurring military takeovers.
The army said the king had “acknowledged”
Prayut’s letter, but stopped short of
describing the response as an endorsement.
The palace has yet to issue a statement on the
crisis.
The military said Yingluck and other
prominent figures had been taken in under a
martial law provision allowing detentions of
up to seven days without charge and that
they were in no danger.
“(Yingluck) is under detention, and she is
fine,” Lieutenant General Thirachai
Nakwanich, head of the military command
for central Thailand including Bangkok, told
AFP.

Washington, which has led criticism of the
coup, took its first concrete steps, suspending
$US3.5 million ($3.79 million) in military
assistance to its ally — about one-third of its
Thai aid.
Anti-Thaksin forces — alleging corruption in
Yingluck’s administration — have staged
months of deadly Bangkok protests that led to
at least 28 deaths and triggered counter-
demonstrations by the pro-Thaksin “Red
Shirt” movement.
Tensions spiralled in early May when a court
ruling controversially stripped Yingluck of
office, setting the stage for the coup.

WASHINGTON — President Obama,
seeking to answer criticism that he has
forsaken America’s leadership role,
plans to lay out a retooled foreign-
policy agenda on Wednesday that
could deepen the nation’s involvement
in Syria but would still steer clear of
major military conflicts.
In a commencement address at the
United States Military Academy at
West Point, N.Y., Mr. Obama will seek,
yet again, to articulate his view of the
proper American response to a
cascade of crises, from Syria’s civil
war to Russia’s incursions in Ukraine,
according to a senior administration
official who is helping draft the
speech.
Sketching familiar arguments but on a
broader canvas, Mr. Obama will
emphasize his determination to chart
a middle course between isolationism
and military intervention. The United
States, he said, should be at the
fulcrum of efforts to curb aggression
by Russia and China, though not at the
price of “fighting in eight or nine
proxy wars.”
“It’s a case for interventionism but
not overreach,” Benjamin J. Rhodes,
the deputy national security adviser,
said in an interview. “We are leading,
we are the only country that leads, but
that leadership has to be in service of
an international system.”
Mr. Obama, however, will emphasize
Syria’s growing status as a haven for
terrorist groups, some of which are
linked to Al Qaeda , officials said. That
could open the door to greater
American support for the rebels,
including heavier weapons, though no
decisions have been made.
The president’s speech will kick off an
intense, administration-wide effort to
counter critics who say the United
States is lurching from crisis to crisis,
without a grand plan for dealing with
a treacherous world. While such
critiques slight Mr. Obama’s
accomplishments, Mr. Rhodes said, he
conceded the president had not put his
priorities, from climate change to the
nuclear talks with Iran, into a
comprehensive framework.
Mr. Obama plans to elaborate on his
ideas during a trip to Europe in early
June. Over the next few weeks, the
White House will roll out issue-specific
speeches from Secretary of State John
Kerry, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel
and other senior officials.
“We understand that there are a lot of
questions swirling around not just our
foreign policy but America’s role in
the world,” Mr. Rhodes said. “People
are seeing the trees, but we’re not
necessarily laying out the forest.”
The trouble is, as Mr. Obama takes a
stage where his predecessors have
signaled new directions in foreign
policy — George W. Bush used a West
Point speech in 2002 to revive the
principle of pre-emptive military
strikes — his ideas are likely to have a
familiar ring.
In a speech on terrorism last year, Mr.
Obama warned of an arc of Islamic
extremism stretching from the Middle
East to North Africa, which he said
was the successor to the Al Qaeda
threat in Afghanistan and Pakistan
that was fought with troops and
drones.
The president’s calibrated rationale
for military intervention will draw on
a speech he gave in 2011 justifying
American backing for NATO airstrikes
on Libya. And his broad definition of
America’s responsibilities as a global
power will inevitably echo the
principles he outlined in accepting the
Nobel Peace Prize in December 2009.
Critics are also likely to argue that the
president’s words have not been
backed up by actions. Administration
officials, for example, have long
promised to bolster support for the
Syrian rebels. But they have so far
refused to supply them with
antiaircraft missiles because they fear
that these weapons could fall into the
hands of extremists.
Mr. Obama’s anguished response to
Syria has hung over the White House
and fueled critics who say the
president’s foreign policy is
rudderless: He threatened, then pulled
back on, a missile strike against Syria
for its use of chemical weapons and
resisted pleas for greater American
involvement, even as the death toll
rises above 160,000.
“I realized last night that the
administration has no policy in Syria,
has no strategy in Syria,” Senator Bob
Corker of Tennessee, the ranking
Republican on the Foreign Relations
Committee, said last week. He had just
attended a White House wine-and-
cheese reception to discuss foreign
policy — a gathering he described as
“very bizarre.”
Denis R. McDonough, the White House
chief of staff, said he invited Mr.
Corker and other senators to meet
with him and Susan E. Rice, the
national security adviser, because
these issues are going to loom large in
coming weeks, and the administration
wanted to consult Congress. “I thought
we had a good back-and-forth,” he
said.
Mr. Obama’s promise last year to
overhaul the counterterrorism policy
has been bogged down, officials say,
in part because of the distraction of
the surveillance disclosures by the
former National Security Agency
contractor Edward J. Snowden.
And the president’s pivot to Asia has
seemed more promise than reality,
with negotiations for a trans-Pacific
trade deal dragging on and the
restoration of American military
presence limited to announcements
like a base-access deal in the
Philippines.
It was on Mr. Obama’s trip to Asia last
month that his frustrations with his
critics boiled over. “Why is it that
everybody is so eager to use military
force after we’ve just gone through a
decade of war at enormous cost to our
troops and to our budget?” he said in
Manila.
Asked in a news conference to
describe his foreign-policy doctrine,
he said, “You hit singles, you hit
doubles; every once in a while we may
be able to hit a home run.” But, the
president added, the overriding
objective is to avoid an error on the
order of the Iraq war.
While Mr. Obama will most likely
shun such colloquialisms at West
Point, the baseball analogy is an apt
summary of his philosophy. In other
conversations, aides say, the president
has used a saltier variation of the
common-sense saying, “Don’t do
stupid stuff.”
In Asia, however, Mr. Obama framed
the debate over military intervention
in a binary way that aides say does
not reflect his views. They said he
agreed with the ambassador to the
United Nations, Samantha Power, who
recently criticized those who say there
are no options between doing nothing
and putting boots on the ground.
“We believe there is an alternative
approach,” Mr. Rhodes said.
To offer more than competent crisis
management, Mr. Obama will also
promote initiatives, like a global
climate change treaty, as well as the
Iranian nuclear negotiations — long-
shot diplomacy that could nevertheless
be a legacy achievement for him.
Mr. Obama will also argue he showed
firm leadership in marshaling support
to resist Russia’s aggression toward
Ukraine and in backing allies in
territorial disputes with China. The
president, Mr. Rhodes said, will draw
a line from Russia to China,
presenting the United States in both
cases as the ultimate guarantor of an
international order.
Such coalition-building, however, does
not have either the speed or satisfying
clarity of military action. “It’s a long
game,” Mr. Rhodes said. “It’s not one
that solves the problem yesterday.”

Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone may be suffering from camera glitches, but new, third-party numbers suggest the Galaxy S5 has actually been selling faster in its first week-and-a-half than its predecessor, the S4.
The numbers suggest that Samsung may be managing, in the short term at least, to defy a long-projected slowdown in the market for high-end phones. Peel, a smart remote app that’s been preloaded on both the S4 and S5, says it had been activated on 1 million Galaxy S5 phones 11 days after Samsung launched the device on Friday, April 11.
It took 16 days for it to reach the same milestone on the S4 last year. Although Android users can also download Peel, the app says that around 70% of its activations come from pre-loaded devices, making it a rough proxy for Samsung’s own device sales.
The numbers add credence to comments from Samsung executive Hankil Yoon who recently said the S5 would outsell the S4.
Samsung’s investors are watching the company closely for signs of how sales of its flagship devices are faring. The world leader in smartphone shipments is due to unveil its first-quarter earnings on Tuesday morning Seoul-time, and earlier this month forecast operating profits of between 8.2 trillion won and 8.6 trillion won ($7.9 billion and $8.3 billion).
That marks a low-single-digit decline from a year earlier, with the slowdown widely attributed to a saturation in market for high-end smartphones in developed markets like the U.S. Earlier this week mobile chip maker Qualcomm QCOM +0.62% also reported a break to its 14-quarter winning streak of higher profits due to a slowdown in chip sales.
High end smartphone makers are feeling the pressure as consumers in developed markets demand ever more sophisticated (and costly) features in the latest phones that eat into their profit margins.
One result is that the Galaxy S5 has an “astronomical” bill of materials, at $251.52, according to researchers at IHS IHS +0.08% Technology, despite lacking any revolutionary new design approaches. The iPhone 5S’s bill of materials stands at $207, according to IHS.
One advantage that Samsung has over Apple AAPL -0.33% is its broad range of devices at the lower end of the smartphone spectrum. Cost, according to analysts at IDC, will be the “key difference maker” in driving smartphone growth over the next year.
Samsung’s biggest worry on that front isn’t Apple but Chinese vendors like Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo, which bought Motorola earlier this year for $2.9 billion. On Wednesday Xiaomi announced that it would be entering 10 countries this year, including India, Brazil and Russia, and that it plans to ship 100 million phones next year.
Samsung sold just under 300 million smartphones in 2013, giving it a 31% share of the smartphone market, according to Gartner, up from 30% in 2012. Apple sold 151 million units while Huawei was third in the global rankings with sales of 46.6 million units.
Smartphone vendors sold 968 million devices globally in 2013, according to Gartner, up 42.3% from 2012.
Analysts say Samsung needs to respond to shifting market preferences by building attractive midrange smartphones with simple user interfaces, to help it stand out among competitors like Xiaomi who also boast phones with large screens and high-density pixels.
“Samsung will do whatever is required to maintain their position,” says Thiru Arunachalam, founder and CEO of app Peel, pointing out that when Samsung launched its first Galaxy Tablet two years ago for $279 and was undercut by Amazon’s $199 tablet offering, it launched a cheaper tablet about three months later. “They have the ability to compete in the low end market as well. But overall I think the Chinese OEMs are going to be big players.”
Peel, which has 60 million users in the U.S. and Asia, has developed close ties with Samsung over the last three years. Arunachalam says his company was the driving force behind Samsung’s decision to put infrared sensors into its S4 and S5 phones to allow Peel’s remote service to work with its smart TVs.
The prospect of a saturated, high-end market doesn’t worry the app’s founder. “For us it’s become an accordion,” he says. “I’d not expect overall saturation of smartphone market for a few more years because periodically every human being should have a smartphone. We’re far away from that.”

INILAH jadwal Piala Dunia 2014 Brasil – Fase Grup, 16 besar, 8 besar, perempat final, semi final dan final.
Jadwal pertandingan FIFA World Cup 2014 yang ke-20 diumumkan sebelumnya di Zurich pada 20 Oktober 2011. Terdapat 64 matches yang akan berlaga, tersebar pada 12 kota.
Sao Paulo menjadi tempat terhormat berlangsung laga pembukaan, Opening Match, pada tanggal 12 Juni 2014. Sedangkan Rio de Janeiro terpilih sebagai lokasi final penentu dari turnamen sepakbola paling bergengsi di dunia.

Sebanyak tiga puluh dua (32) tim nasional telah masuk kualifikasi antara lain

Final drawing penentuan pot dan jadwal laga fase Grup akan digelar di Costa do Sauípe Resort, Mata de São João di Bahia pada tanggal 6 December 2013, sekira pukul 23:00 WIB.
Ketiga puluh dua timnas ini akan dibagi menjadi empat pot. Untuk pot 1 terdiri dari tuan rumah Brazil dan tujuh timnas terbaik menurut rangking FIFA bulan Oktober lalu. • Dampak penyalahgunaan Narkoba

Bila narkoba digunakan secara terus menerus atau melebihi takaran yang telah ditentukan akan mengakibatkan ketergantungan. Kecanduan inilah yang akan mengakibatkan gangguan fisik dan psikologis, karena terjadinya kerusakan pada sistem syaraf pusat (SSP) dan organ-organ tubuh seperti jantung, paru-paru, hati dan ginjal.

Dampak penyalahgunaan narkoba pada seseorang sangat tergantung pada jenis narkoba yang dipakai, kepribadian pemakai dan situasi atau kondisi pemakai.Secara umum, dampak kecanduan narkoba dapat terlihat pada fisik, psikis maupun sosial seseorang.

1) Dampak penyalahgunaan narkoba terhadap fisik:

Gangguan pada system syaraf (neurologis) seperti: kejang-kejang, halusinasi, gangguan kesadaran, kerusakan syaraf tepi

Gangguan pada jantung dan pembuluh  darah (kardiovaskuler) seperti: infeksi akut otot jantung, gangguan peredaran darah

Gangguan pada kulit (dermatologis) seperti: penanahan  (abses), alergi, eksim

Gangguan pada paru-paru (pulmoner) seperti: penekanan fungsi pernapasan, kesukaran bernafas, pengerasan jaringan paru-paru

Sering sakit kepala, mual-mual dan  muntah, murus-murus, suhu tubuh meningkat, pengecilan hati dan sulit tidur

Dampak penyalahgunaan narkoba terhadap kesehatan reproduksi adalah gangguan padaendokrin, seperti: penurunan fungsi hormon reproduksi (estrogen, progesteron, testosteron), serta gangguan fungsi seksual

Dampak penyalahgunaan narkoba terhadap kesehatan reproduksi pada remaja perempuan antara lain perubahan periode menstruasi, ketidakteraturan menstruasi, dan amenorhoe (tidak haid)

Bagi pengguna narkoba melalui jarum suntik, khususnya pemakaian jarum suntik secara bergantian, risikonya  adalah tertular penyakit seperti hepatitis B, C, dan HIV yang hingga saat ini belum ada obatnya

Penyalahgunaan narkoba bisa berakibat fatal ketika terjadi over dosis yaitu konsumsi narkoba melebihi kemampuan tubuh untuk menerimanya. Over dosis bisa menyebabkan kematian

2) Dampak penyalahgunaan narkoba terhadap psikis:

Lamban kerja, ceroboh kerja, sering tegang dan gelisah

Hilang kepercayaan diri, apatis, pengkhayal, penuh curiga

Agitatif, menjadi ganas dan tingkah laku yang brutal

Sulit berkonsentrasi, perasaan kesal dan tertekan

Cenderung menyakiti diri, perasaan tidak aman, bahkan bunuh diri

3) Dampak penyalahgunaan narkoba terhadap lingkungan social:

Gangguan mental, anti-sosial dan asusila, dikucilkan oleh lingkungan

Merepotkan dan menjadi beban keluarga

Pendidikan menjadi terganggu, masa depan suram

Dampak fisik, psikis dan sosial berhubungan erat. Ketergantungan fisik akan mengakibatkan rasa sakit yang luar biasa (sakaw) bila terjadi putus obat (tidak mengkonsumsi obat pada  waktunya) dan dorongan psikologis berupa keinginan sangat kuat untuk mengkonsumsi (bahasa gaulnya sugest). Gejata fisik dan psikologis ini juga berkaitan dengan gejala sosial seperti dorongan untuk membohongi orang tua, mencuri, pemarah, manipulatif, dll.

• Dampak Tidak Langsung Narkoba Yang Disalahgunakan

1. Akan banyak uang yang dibutuhkan untuk penyembuhan dan perawatan kesehatan pecandu jika tubuhnya rusak digerogoti zat beracun.

2. Dikucilkan dalam masyarakat dan pergaulan orang baik-baik. Selain itu biasanya tukang candu narkoba akan bersikap anti sosial.

3. Keluarga akan malu besar karena punya anggota keluarga yang memakai zat terlarang.

4. Kesempatan belajar hilang dan mungkin dapat dikeluarkan dari sekolah atau perguruan tinggi alias DO / drop out.

5. Tidak dipercaya lagi oleh orang lain karena umumnya pecandu narkoba akan gemar berbohong dan melakukan tindak kriminal.

6. Dosa akan terus bertambah karena lupa akan kewajiban Tuhan serta menjalani kehidupan yang dilarang oleh ajaran agamanya.

7. Bisa dijebloskan ke dalam tembok derita / penjara yang sangat menyiksa lahir batin.

Biasanya setelah seorang pecandu sembuh dan sudah sadar dari mimpi-mimpinya maka ia baru akan menyesali semua perbuatannya yang bodoh dan banyak waktu serta kesempatan yang hilang tanpa disadarinya. Terlebih jika sadarnya ketika berada di penjara. Segala caci-maki dan kutukan akan dilontarkan kepada benda haram tersebut, namun semua telah terlambat dan berakhir tanpa bisa berbuat apa-apa.

Efek depresi bisa ditimbulkan akibat kecaman keluarga, teman dan masyarakat atau kegagalan dalam mencoba berhenti memakai narkoba. Namun orang normal yang depresi dapat menjadi pemakai narkoba karena mereka berpikir bahwa narkoba dapat mengatasi dan melupakan masalah dirinya, akan tetapi semua itu tidak benar.
